Behavioral Science

The study of human behavior is a longitudinal experience throughout the three years of training. The program employs a psychologist and psychiatrist who are the primary instructors for this part of the curriculum.

The methods of instruction include:

  • Core curriculum lecture series
  • Video recording of patient interviews
  • One-on-one faculty observation of residents with patients
  • Individual sessions with the program psychiatrist
  • Instructional Balint seminar

A core of competency-based learning objectives has been established to manage common psychiatric problems in the office setting. The curriculum prepares you to deal with:

  • Different stages of the life cycle
  • Difficult encounters
  • Comfort and competence to promote whole patient well-being
