The study of human behavior is a longitudinal experience throughout the three years of training. The program employs a psychologist and psychiatrist who are the primary instructors for this part of the curriculum.
The methods of instruction include:
- Core curriculum lecture series
- Video recording of patient interviews
- One-on-one faculty observation of residents with patients
- Individual sessions with the program psychiatrist
- Instructional Balint seminar
A core of competency-based learning objectives has been established to manage common psychiatric problems in the office setting. The curriculum prepares you to deal with:
- Different stages of the life cycle
- Difficult encounters
- Comfort and competence to promote whole patient well-being
